Project Type: CGI Animation I Experimental I Archive I Video
2:46min HD I 2022
Experimental, non-narrative audiovisual work, using animated layers of CGI and archive material to construct and deconstruct the image through remixes, mash-ups and dizzying effects.
Digital images are mixed with analogue images that are merged by the sound.
The video is conceived as an infinite journey, a reminder that all life springs from the same source and is in constant motion through time and space. The archive material is based on the technological evolution of the 60s to the 80s, when aviation and space programmes peaked. The digital images are a remix of cosmic and botanical sequences depicting the beginning of this planet, like the big bang, compared to technological development; the baby-plane in its testing phase, constantly evolving to allow us to explore this world.
The archive material is taken from the Open Beelden platform, the open archive of Sound&Vision in the Netherlands.
The electronic sound created by Anja Masling enhances the mystical mood and follows the artificial camera movements through a constantly dissolving landscape.
Masling uses electronic music elements and synthesiser pads and bells from the 80s for melodic distortions.
